If the product had no signs of spoilage and "Use By" date was current, the degraded appearance could possibly be caused by improper storage conditions. For example, if the product was frozen, it may have broken down and separated in form of curdled pieces once thawed.
No, it is not recommended. Freezing Almond Breeze® causes the product to separate irregularly and this greatly reduces the visual quality and consistency of the product upon thawing.
After opening, Almond Breeze® should be used within 5 days. Because Almond Breeze® does not contain preservatives it is susceptible to spoilage after being opened for a prolonged period of time. Do not leave opened Almond Breeze® unrefrigerated for an extended period of time. Storage at room temperature will shorten the shelf life and, just like cow's milk, Almond Breeze® will spoil if left unrefrigerated too long. Blue Diamond does not recommend trying to extend the Use Before time frame of Almond Breeze® and Blue Diamond will not guarantee the quality of the product beyond the recommended "Use By" time frame.

Refrigerated Almond Breeze®

Unopened refrigerated Almond Breeze® needs to be kept refrigerated and be stored at a temperature of 1 to 5°C until the "Use By" date printed on top of the carton. Keep refrigerated Almond Breeze® in the middle of your refrigerator to prevent possible freezing. Avoid refrigerator door storage as this area of your refrigerator tends to have the biggest temperature change compared to any other part of the refrigerator. Refrigerated Almond Breeze® is perishable and will spoil if not refrigerated.

Shelf -stable (long life) Almond Breeze®

Unopened shelf-stable (long life) Almond Breeze® can be stored in your pantry unrefrigerated up until the "BEST BEFORE" date printed on top of the carton. Once opened shelf-stable (long life) Almond Breeze® must be refrigerated or it will spoil.

Almond Breeze® is made with carefully selected almonds and quality ingredients which, when combined and processed in the proper ratios, results in truly unique and tasty product.
Yes. Shelf-stable (long life) Almond Breeze® is produced via a process called aseptic processing. UHT or Ultra High Temperature eliminates all microorganisms to ensure the product is able to store at ambient temperature condition. This process is a closed process applying an Ultra High Temperature to achieve a commercially sterilized product and then packaged in a sterile container. Refrigerated Almond Breeze® is produced via the same UHT process. Ultra high heat eliminates all viable pathogens to ensure the product is safe. The UHT processed product is packaged in a specially designed protective carton resulting in extended shelf life (ESL).
Refrigerated Almond Breeze® is packaged in a 1 litre carton with a white plastic pour spout fitment. All container boards are made from EU approved virgin materials with a multi-layer structure and an oxygen barrier designed for extended shelf life applications. Shelf -stable (long life) Almond Breeze® is packaged in a 1 litre carton with a white plastic pour spout fitment. The packaging is laminated with a layer of aluminium which forms a barrier against oxygen, light and microorganism to preserve product without refrigeration and/or added preservatives. There is no leaching of aluminium or aluminium components through the plastic layer.
Almond Breeze® can be used in just about any recipe calling for traditional cow's milk. It can be used in baking, soups and sauces, as well as heated up for hot drinks, etc.
Sunflower Lecithin is used as an emulsifier in Almond Breeze®. It gives the product a creamy taste and appearance.
Natural Flavouring is added to enhance product flavour. It includes the natural essence or extract obtained from a plant source.
Almond Breeze® contains food grade carrageenan as a thickening, emulsifying and stabilising agent. Carrageenan is a natural occurring carbohydrate extracted from red seaweed. There are two types of carrageenan, food grade and a chemically degraded form of carrageenan also known as poligeenan. Food grade carrageenan is carefully processed to avoid degradation and has been widely used in worldwide food production since the 1930s. Its safety has been assured by, amongst others, the US FDA (gras status) and the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Food. Chemically degraded carrageenan is not permitted in foods and is not used in Almond Breeze®.
For sweetened Almond Breeze® products, Blue Diamond uses raw cane sugar which is the crystallised sucrose from the first pressing of sugar cane. It is unbleached and made with minimal processing. It has a unique naturally sweet flavour. Unsweetened Almond Breeze® products have no sugar or sweetener added.
The sea salt is high grade sodium chloride salt derived from the vacuum evaporation of solar salt brine derived directly from sea water.
The fat found in Almond Breeze® comes primarily from the natural almond oil found in almonds with a small, trace amount from the vegetable oil found in the sunflower lecithin.
No. Blue Diamond uses only California almonds grown by our grower co-operative members without the use of genetic engineering or gene manipulation. The varieties of almonds used in Almond Breeze® were developed using traditional agricultural techniques.
No. Blue Diamond utilizes UHT (Ultra High Temperature) processing and special packaging material to extend Almond Breeze® shelf life.
Almond Breeze® products have mild and pleasant odours. If your Almond Breeze® does not look, smell and taste the way it should, it may be spoiled. Signs of spoilage include: The carton looks abnormally bloated; When opened, product appears to be mouldy, curdled and/or slimy; The colour has changed; The product has an off odour or smells like sour milk; The product texture has changed and is not smooth and creamy.
No. Almond Breeze® is Gluten free - there is no added wheat or gluten.
Consumers should consult physician about the use of Almond Breeze® during pregnancy or breast feeding.
Almond Breeze® is not a replacement of breast milk and/or infant formula and is not suitable as a main milk drink for children under three. Consumers should consult a paediatrician about the use of Almond Breeze® for an infant.

The two varieties utilise different packaging material in order to maximise product quality as well as product shelf life. Please refer to Almond Breeze® packaging question "What is the carton made of" for details.
It is because shaking Almond Breeze® before serving helps to maintain product consistency. Over time solids in Almond Breeze® such as cocoa powder and calcium may settle to the bottom of the carton.
The Almond Breeze® finished product is produced in the EU and then distributed in the UK.
The almonds are grown in orchards by Blue Diamond's grower co-operative members in California, USA.
Yes. Almond Breeze® is suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans.
All Blue Diamond Almonds available in the UK contain no animal derivatives or proteins.  They are suitable for vegetarians.
No. Our UK flavoured snack almond products do not contain dairy ingredients.
Our Smokehouse® almonds contain a natural smoke flavouring derived from smoke condensates with burning of hickory wood. The natural smoke flavouring is compliant with the European Union food ingredient requirements. Natural smoke flavouring contains no animal derivatives and is considered vegan.
Some of our products use soya ingredients such as soy sauce, soybean oil, and soy lecithin. Whenever we use soya ingredients you will find "soya" indicated in the ingredient statement.
While some forms of maltodextrin can contain gluten, we utilize maltodextrin made from corn. Corn does not contain gluten.
Blue Diamond does not add the ingredient MSG (monosodium glutamate) to our products.
We currently do not offer organic products.
Most of our products do not contain ingredients derived from wheat or other gluten grains. The following Blue Diamond products contain gluten: Wasabi & Soy Sauce Almonds
No. Blue Diamond uses California almonds grown by our grower co-operative members without the use of genetic engineering or gene manipulation. The varieties of almonds available were developed using traditional agricultural breeding techniques. Additionally, the seasonings and flavourings used to make Blue Diamond snack almonds do not contain genetically engineered materials.
Our snack almonds are packaged in air tight containers to preserve freshness.  Once the packages are opened the almonds should be consumed within one to two weeks.  Storing almonds in the refrigerator will extend the shelf life after opening to about four weeks.  When storing products in the refrigerator use sealed containers to protect against absorption of moisture and odour.
